Updates to Editorial Policies and Management

05-12-2025

To enhance the scholarly quality, operational sustainability, and international standard of Izzatuna: Jurnal Ilmu Al-Qur'an dan Tafsir (IJIAT), the Editorial Board has established several new policies. These updates cover the peer review process, academic integrity standards, article layout, and publication fees.

Key Takeaway Points:
  • January 1, 2026:
Mandatory Similarity Check (Max. 25%), Enhanced Peer Review (2 Reviewers per round).
  • June 2026 (Vol. 7 No. 1):
New Template, Language Composition of the Issue, and APC Implementation.
1. Strengthening the Peer Review Process

Effective January 1, 2025, all submitted manuscripts will undergo a rigorous double-blind peer review process involving two independent reviewers per round. This measure is intended to ensure a more comprehensive assessment and higher objectivity in article selection.

2. Plagiarism and Similarity Standards

Effective January 1, 2026, authors are required to upload a similarity check report (e.g., Turnitin or iThenticate) at the time of submission. The maximum allowable similarity index is 25% (excluding quotes and bibliography). Submissions missing this document will be given a strictly enforced 3-day grace period. Failure to comply will result in an immediate desk rejection.

3. Article Template Update

Starting from Vol. 7 No. 1 (June 2026), IJIAT will adopt a new article template to improve readability and visual identity. All manuscripts published in this issue and onwards must adhere to this new layout.

4. Linguistic Composition of Issues

Starting from Vol. 7 No. 1 (June 2026), each issue will maintain a fixed linguistic composition. Every edition will consist of 3 Indonesian articles, 2 English articles, and 2 Arabic articles. Authors are encouraged to consider this allocation when preparing their manuscripts.

5. Implementation of Article Processing Charge (APC)

Starting from Vol. 7 No. 1 (June 2026), IJIAT will introduce an Article Processing Charge (APC) for all accepted manuscripts. This fee supports the sustainable maintenance of the journal, covering DOI registration, open-access publishing processes, website maintenance, and professional copyediting. Detailed information will be available on the Author Fees page.

Sincerely,
Editorial Team
